About the programme

China’s new energy vehicles (NEVs) are made by companies that are closely tied to each other: battery makers, car plants, component suppliers, software developers and infrastructure operators. Over eight days the group visits each link. In Shanghai we look at the market and infrastructure, in Suzhou at R&D, in Changzhou at the factories and batteries.

  1. Vehicle testing in a laboratory

    Infrastructure and autonomous driving

A pilot zone for intelligent transport, V2G infrastructure and battery swap stations.

  2. Control centre of a digital automotive plant

    Development and digital manufacturing

Smart cockpit, OTA architecture, digital twins and real-time quality control.

  3. Engineers at an electric vehicle battery plant

    Batteries and components

Full-cycle traction battery production, lightweight structural components, hot stamping.

Format: meetings with management, visits to plants and R&D centres, discussions with experts. At the factories the group does more than walk the shop floor. Senior managers and engineers talk about strategy, efficiency, the difficulties of scaling up and technology, and answer questions themselves.

Route logic

Each city covers its own part of the industry. Between cities we travel by high-speed train and comfortable coach.

At each site the group is hosted by the company’s management.

  2. Questions prepared in advance

We collect participants’ questions before the trip so that each meeting addresses your goals.

  3. Round tables and Q&A

Every meeting has time for questions and discussion.

  4. Minutes after each visit

After each visit we write down the agreements and next steps.

  5. Negotiations after the mission

If needed, we keep working after the trip and run the project in China.
