How to find a reliable contractor in China to build a waste recycling plant in Russia
The client in this case came to me quite by accident - he was looking for a translator and came across my profile (and I used to provide such services), which I had not updated for at least 5 years.

We had a call, the client told me about his idea for a waste processing business, and we decided that my company would help him find Chinese contractors to build the plant.
Objective: to find a reliable Chinese contractor to build a waste processing plant in Russia
📍Point А:
  • Big mission to rid Russia of garbage
  • Need for a Chinese contractor to build a factory
  • A client who does not speak Chinese
📍Точка Б:
  • Found several contractors at once, from which they chose the best option
  • Negotiated a $10+ million dollar contract
But first, let's get to know each other
My name is Ivan Melnikov, I am the owner of Asia Business Hub and I have been living in China since 2005. My company helps entrepreneurs with the procurement of equipment and raw materials from China, as well as with the realization of complex technical projects with the participation of Chinese manufacturers with full support at every stage.
Ivan Melnikov
entrepreneur, owner of Asia Business Hub
  • Speaks Chinese without an accent
  • Understands the mentality of Chinese business owners and know how to negotiate a discount and conclude a long-term contract
  • Helps to organize PR in China and establish relations with the Chinese government
How we did it:
1
Stage. At the beginning of our cooperation, the client flies to China for us to go together to the factories he has chosen. For 7 days we studied the manufacturers, traveled extensively to the factories in China, and communicated closely with the owners of the production facilities. During this time, the client became even more convinced that he wanted to realize his project with the help of Chinese contractors.

One of the factory owners told us that he would participate in an exhibition in Moscow and suggested we meet again in Russia.
2
Stage. I fly to Russia, and we attend an industrial exhibition in Moscow. There we find the owner of a Chinese corporation that owns 80% of all waste treatment plants.
In 15 minutes of conversation, I arrange a meeting with this owner at my partner's landfill. In the same way we get acquainted and agree with the owners of several other companies.
As a result, during this exhibition we found more promising potential partners than my client had found before.
Interesting fact: we didn't even have a booth, but the owners were so impressed with my Chinese that they agreed to meetings almost immediately :)
3
Stage. The next morning we go to the range and make a presentation to the Chinese business owners.
4
Stage. After a trip to the landfill, we sign a memorandum for further cooperation with the owner of one of the Chinese companies, who offered optimal conditions.
5
Stage. Prepared a 10+ million dollar project and contracted for a long term partnership.
What's the result
Thanks to our participation in an exhibition in Moscow (and my Chinese without an accent), we found a contractor with more favorable terms than those the client had found on his own.

Now the project is in an active phase. The design of the plant is in full swing.
Conclusion: it is best to look for Chinese contractors and partners at trade fairs, not on the conventional Alibaba. And an experienced guide is able to find the most favorable option for you. My company can be such a guide for you.
